Current Research Project: Sergio is currently working on a translation of Rudolphe Töpffer’s 19th-century essays addressing the theory, practice, and pedagogy informing the invention of comics—Töpffer is considered, according to comics scholar David Kunzle, the father of the comic strip, as well as holding the first chair of rhetoric at the University of Geneva from 1832 until his death in 1846.
